Bank holiday Monday 6th May 2019 marked the first-ever North Somerset’s Strongest Man (NSSM).
With strongman roots in agriculture, it seems somewhat odd that it’s taken until the 160th North Somerset Show for strongman to be included in the schedule, although, that’s not 100% accurate, as the North Somerset Show has long enjoyed wood chopping races and tug of war – strongman events in themselves.
The first-ever NSSM did not disappoint, with 12 of the county’s strongest men battling it out over 5 gruelling events, judged by World’s Strongest Man competitor Big Loz, and a record crowd wowed by an official Guinness World Record by Invictus Games star, Martin Tye.
Rave reviews now sees NSSM as a permanent fixture in the calendar.
